harley quinn has bpd?
HARLEY'S IMPULSIVE BPD

Harley Quinn has 2 distinct personality disorders 1 of which may mimic another personality disorder. First of all she’s a sociopath. In psychology and psychiatry, the term "sociopath" has been historically associated with "antisocial personality disorder" (ASPD). ASPD is a personality disorder characterized by a pattern of disregard for the rights, feelings, and well-being of others. People with ASPD may engage in manipulative, deceitful, and exploitative behaviors, often without remorse or empathy for their actions.
Harley Quinn also shows characteristic of borderline personality disorder more specifically the angry, impulsive borderline subtype. This subtype of borderline personality includes histrionic features. Histrionic personality is a cluster b disorder characterized by attention seeking and dramatic behaviour. There is also a shallowness and a childishness to this disorder. Harley Quinn has a child like quality to her and she’s all about having fun but with that comes an aggressiveness, she becomes violent and goes on these crazy escapades. That feels less like the histrionic and more like a borderline personality.
Symptoms of Histrionic personality disorder (HPD)
is uncomfortable in situations in which he or she is not the center of attention
interaction with others is often characterized by inappropriate sexually seductive or provocative behavior
displays rapidly shifting and shallow expression of emotions
consistently uses physical appearance to draw attention to self
has a style of speech that is excessively impressionistic and lacking in detail
shows self-dramatization, theatricality, and exagerated expression of emotion
is suggestible, i.e., easily influenced by others or circumstances
considers relationships to be more intimate than they actually are

Theodore Millon describes the angry impulsive borderline as captivating, capricious, superficial, frenetic, and seductive; fearing loss, the individual becomes agitated; rageful and irritable. In this subtype we see some that fun and exciting like Harley, super energetic. But in times of distress these people become angry and raging and this is where we see an overlap of bpd and aspd, because when people with bpd go into a rageful state of mind, they may plot revenge or do something dangerous to themselves or others. This borderline also overlaps with narcissism.
The impulsive borderline is known to be more interested in superficial relationships. Harley has a lot of ‘come-and-go’ friends and her relationship with joker was completely transactional. Thats another indication of her BPD, the fact that she cant have long term relationships (which is the 2nd symptom: instability in relationships)
Those were my thoughts on Harley Quinns personality. Do you know anyone as insanely fun as she is? Hope you enjoyed reading this article. I definitely had a lot of fun writing it!
